I have noticed that also. We are so close, we have no time to waste. We must get out in service, etc. They seem desperate.

So close, they're saying it every meeting?
by CrimsonAshes inwas listening to the meeting on the phone tonight, and the second half, after the song, one of the announcements said about the gt.. at first i thought they said "great tribulation one day away," but then i listened to the rest, and realized it was "great tribulation is one more day near.
" either way....they're saying it at every meeting now?
and the reason it was an announcement was because they were announcing baptisms.

what were your meetings for field service experiences?
by Coffee House Girl inmy mom (still in the borg) was telling me about going out with the c.o and his wife this week in field service & i started re-living the horror show that would go on during saturday meetings for field service-.
ah... the dreaded splitting up into car groups... i always felt like we were in gym class being grouped together for a game of dodgeball-.
the co and elders were the team captains and we would line up for the count.

Coffee House Girl
You described it very well. My husband was an elder and hated the other elders not showing compassion for the mentally ill. I must admit that I to did feel sorry for them. They all knew that most of the elders were ditching them. But honestly those who heard voices and such were a bit much for me. I remember sending hours with them. Try going to the door with someone who smells and having the householder looking at you like what in th heck are you doing here. And they worry about bringing reproach on Jehovah's name. How is it not bringing reproach on Jehovah's name sending a man who reeks of BO and hears voices in his head to someone's door. I tired to reason with my husband over that one but he keeps saying if Jehovah can use rocks to bring the good new he can use the mentally ill.
I just could never followed his line of reasoning. Field service totally stressed out these mentally ill people, than couple that with the way the other elders treated them they were total basket cases by the time we got into the car to start service. I just know the people who we bugged on Saturday mornings looked at us like a bunch of nut cases and would either slam the door on us or take the magazines in pity. Either way it was a bad witnesses as far as I could see.

Jehovah and the Munchausen Syndrome
by Terry inwhat is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.
one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.
a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .

Anyone look at this board while still an IN and ACTIVE JW?
by Mad Sweeney ini vaguely remember looking at this board a few years ago, before i ever considered leaving the borg, and being appalled at the evil and hateful attitudes i saw here and scared to death of reading any further.. now i go back through years and years of posts and there is no evil or hate there at all.
it's one of the most kind and welcoming boards i've encountered since the invention of the internet.. that is how well borg indoctrination works.
it is eerily like 1984. black is white.

Yes but I was scarred out of my mind. But I just could not leave it alone. The first assembly I went to after finding this board all I could think of was getting home to read more here. The first thing I did when I walked in my door was to go right to the computer and get on this sight. This sight is just amazing in how helpful it is.

Pick up those Laundry Mat/Hospital Magazines and Mark them with SEE JWFACTS.COM!!!
by Lady Liberty ingood morning everyone..."happy monday" to you!!.
so for some time now, in attempt to help prevent the dubs from spreading their lies in the magazines, my parents (rock hound and little bo peep) have been stopping by the local laundry mats and taking out all the watchtower and awakes that are left behind and with a pen they write on the magazine, see jwfacts.com, and then they highlight it, and put it back in the laundry mat!
they have been doing this for some time now, and guess what??

I have been having to use the laundry mat while our basement gets done. Yous mom told me to do that so every week I check to see if any magazines are there and there never are. I use the laundry mat just five blocks from the hall and I know the PO's wife always leaves the them at this laundry mat. So someone must be throwing them out.
I am a little disappointed that I have not been able to do it but I am keeping a watch out for them now. I think it is a great idea and I so want to do it.

How many you you hated to wait in the car while someone was on a good call!
by life is to short insomething i have not heard before on this board is waiting in the car out in service or any of the woman who were elders wives waiting on their husbands while in an elders meeting.. i was 24 years old when i got married to an older man he was 41 and had been an elder for about 12 years.
i truly loved my husband when we got married.
i truly loved him like crazy.

I agree waiting in the car beat trying to talk to someone but why waste your life sitting in a car trying to drag someone else into a cult? This religion is such a waste of life. All the time we spent trying to get other people to join a cult. How sad.

No we are still married but our marriage is very rocky. Once I have started learning the truth about the "truth" and realizing all that my husband put me through for this religion I am just really bitter.
I think coming from such an abusive childhood I was not able to choose wisely in a marriage mate. I wish I could smack my 24 year old self for being so sure of herself. I did not give myself a chance to grow up.
Part of my problem with the age difference now is I think OK I am the age you were when you married me. I thought my husband was so smart and knew everything when we got married. I am thinking now that I am the age he was when he married me that really you could not see this was a cult? You really could not see that? I thought you were so intelligent when we were first married but really you gave your life, lived on nothing, said all Jehovah had to give you was a can of soup once a day and that was fine with you. What were you thinking getting married. That you could feed your wife one can of soup a day and that would be fine. The other wives were buying cloths and new cars getting their hair done, going on date night which we could never do. My husband told me to keep my blinders on and not to look to closely at what others do. Really? I was working 30 hours a week to support us while he supported everyone else.
I guess I just wanted to be treated like I mattered, not that everyone else mattered more then me which is what happened.
I do not know where our marriage is headed. Life is hard in this religion for sure. My husband devotion to the religion slowly killed my love for him how sad.
